We are prone to judge success by the index of our salaries or the size of our automobiles, rather than by the quality of our service relationship to humanity.

On the bright sunny morning of June 6, 2014, a group of 30 volunteers from the Holladay Properties South Bend Office spent time at McKinley Primary in South Bend, Indiana for the 2014 Community Day of Service, which organized by Assistant Property Manager, Kahli Anthony. The morning began at 9:00 AM when we were greeted at the door by the principal, staff and some very energetic little ones.

We were then split into groups and assigned various duties including landscaping, organizing a bookroom, cleaning out storage rooms and lockers, and removing staples from bulletin boards. A great deal was accomplished and, as evidenced by the photos, much fun was had.

Volunteering is one of the best ways to make new friends and strengthen existing relationships. It strengthens your ties to the community and broadens your support network. “For me, there is no better feeling in the world than the one I get from helping others,” said Property Management Director of Administration, Kathy Rubio. “The curiosity of the kids, the appreciation of the staff and the enthusiasm of Holladay employees made this volunteer experience one of my favorites.”

Christine Urbanski, Property Accountant summed up the day best; “It was such a great feeling to know how much the school appreciated our help today.”
