GOING, GOING, GONE, THE CROWD GOES WILD! Elliot ‘The Shark’ Lusk, sends the ball flying over the heads of the outfielders, it’s a homerun folks! While Karen ‘The Killer’ Tighe-MacKenzie, makes a throw from the hot corner to first base, making Ron Santo proud!
Thursday, July 17, 2014 was no ordinary day in downtown South Bend. The United Way of St. Joseph County held its annual ‘Campaign Kick-Off’ Swing for Charity Event at Four Winds Field, home of the South Bend Silver Hawks. The excitement in the air was that of a final game of the World Series. Several local businesses, including Holladay Properties, participated in making this a fun and successful day by kicking off what’s hoping to be a successful campaign season for United Way.
Each company chose two members to participate in a hitting and throwing contest. Assistant Property Manager, Elliot Lusk, had 10 chances to hit a home run, while Karen Tighe-MacKenzie, Treasury Manager/Corporate Accountant, had to make a throw from third base to first. Both of these fine players did very well, making Holladay proud.
The topper of the day was Holladay’s winning the award for the most spirited company. Employees and Holladay supporters were all decked out in bright green shirts, colorful hats, Hawaiian leis, and lots of noise makers. A blow-up six foot shark became the mascot of the day!
All had a great time, for a great cause! Holladay Properties and United Way…helping to build a better community.
